Remington 40X stock ( Remington 700 Short Action)

The Remington 40x shown in the last picture was both a training and competition rifle in .22 Lr. 

During Vietnam, the USMC would end up adopting a modified Remington 40X/Remington 700 hybrid that would later be designated the M40 sniping system. 

All Remington 40x rifles, regardless of caliber, would be assembled and tuned in the Remington custom shop.

While the stock is setup for single shot, the stock could be altered for Remington 700 short action with magazine well.
