For Sale: German M1883 Reichsrevolver – Serial Number 12 (Extremely Early Production)
I am offering an exceptional M1883 Reichsrevolver, featuring an incredibly rare two-digit serial number: 12. This is one of the earliest Reichsrevolvers I have ever encountered and is likely among the earliest production examples available in Canada.
Condition & Mechanics: The revolver is in excellent mechanical condition. Timing and lockup are rock-solid and the action functions exactly as it should. The revolver feels robust and well-built, living up to the reputation of these German military sidearms.
Matching Numbers:
• Serial number 12 on the frame/receiver
• Serial number 12 on the side plate
• Serial number 12 on the barrel
• Most internal components appear matching as well
• The only known non-matching part appears to be the trigger, marked “34”
This makes it an extraordinarily original example for a revolver of this age.
Bore & Condition: The bore is in excellent condition with strong rifling. Overall condition is very impressive and the revolver remains a fantastic collector piece.
Design & Features:
• Original military lanyard ring intact
• Large-frame German service revolver
• Extremely strong and durable design
• Comfortable grip and surprisingly good handling characteristics
Historical Significance: The Reichsrevolver served the German Empire and continued to see use into World War I. It provides a fascinating connection to early German military history and represents one of the first standardized German service revolvers.
Caliber:
• Chambered in 10.6mm German Ordnance
• .44 Russian can be shot and used
• Components and loading information remain available to collectors and shooters
Collector Appeal: A serial number this low is exceptionally uncommon. Finding a largely matching Reichsrevolver with serial number 12 is a rare opportunity and makes this one of the most desirable examples I have encountered.
Price: $2,650 shipped
Legal Note: This is a pre-1898 antique firearm and may be legally owned and discharged anywhere a non-restricted firearm is permitted in accordance with Canadian law.
