Type 24 Mauser, also known as the Chiang Kai-shek rifle, or Generalissimo. The first standard issue rifle of the nationalist army. Made in China with tooling provided by the Germans, with preproduction starting in 1935.

This rifle was produced in Nanjing 21st arsenal, the most sought after due to its iconic arsenal crest. The crest has a bow and arrow surrounded by the Great Wall of China (Gear wheel and Bow) with a reverse swastika (Wan).

These rifles are now highly prized by Taiwanese Canadians and considered heirlooms.

This particular rifle ended up in the hands of the  PLA and shows signs of continued use, possibly by militia, in Vietnam and up to the Korean War.

Matching original barrel and receiver. Type 24 rifles have truly gone through hell and back with little maintenance, and are collected for this history. Will need to be inspected by a gunsmith before shooting. It feeds and ejects snap caps with no issues, and dry fires as it should. Almost all of the original barrels are basically smooth bore sewer pipes, this one although worn and still has rifling. Took the best picture I could get of the bore, can in meet in person to look it over.

Meet location in Mississauga/Oakville, near Winston Churchill and Dundas.
