Ever notice when you're out in the bush you always seem to be carrying the wrong gun?  You are out for a great deer hunt - and instead, all you see are Partridge.  Or you are shot gunning for birds and you wish you brought a centerfire rifle - to take out some small game, or perhaps protect yourself from a threatening animal.

This gun gives you some really practical field versatility.  The rifle barrel is in 5.6X52R. That is the European designation for what, in North America, is often called 22 Savage high power.

The typical loading for this round is a 70-grain bullet going at around 3,000 feet per second.

That means it's got some decent capabilities for handling small game, or even medium range varmiting. It would be more than adequate for deer hunting.  In fact, the cartridge has been used in Africa on lions and tigers, etc. – although not recommended.  Factory ammo is easy to get and affordable.  If you buy this gun locally in the Ottawa region, I can supply two unfired boxes of boxer primed Sellier and Bellot - at an extra cost.

I also have new unopened Lee dies.

Both barrels are 23 ½ inches. The shotgun barrel is 2 3/4 with an improved modified choke. Sights are iron with integral early-style Sako/ Valmet scope base. As shown in the photos I have added a removeable weaver adapter to the Sako/ Valmet scope base - which means that you don't have to track down Sako type angle lock rings.

Perfect for the one gun hunter!

Valmet O/U series rifles (models 212, 412 and 512) are still in production (now by Tikka) in a variety of calibers and configurations – including O/U shotguns and double rifles. These guns have been made since the '70s and feature wonderful European old-world quality.

People who have these firearms tend to like them a lot partly because they represent quintessential versatility.

For example, with the gun I'm selling the owner can take off the fore-end, open the action – and the barrel set comes right out, without tools. And you can just as easily install a double rifle barrel set – or a 20 gauge field barrel set, or a 12 gauge water fowling barrel set, etc.

The gun I'm selling only comes with the barrel set that I've specified, but others barrel sets are easy to get and typically much more affordable than what you're going to pay for Brno stuff, etc.

The gun I'm selling has virtually all of its original blue and the walnut stock has no significant scratches or dings – as shown in the photos.
