Here is a Zastava M48 Mauser, chambered in 8 mm Mauser with a 23.25″ barrel, a post-WWII Yugoslav military surplus rifle that combines rugged Mauser reliability with Cold War era provenance. All matching.

History & Variant

The M48 series began production in 1950 as Yugoslavia’s indigenous Mauser-98k derivative, replacing wartime repairs and imports. In 1958, the M48B variant was introduced, adding stamped components (trigger guard, barrel bands) to reduce cost while retaining the same receiver markings as the M48A. Built alongside the M48A until 1965, over 430,000 M48Bs were exported globally, seeing service in conflicts from the Lebanese Civil War to Yugoslavia’s internal strife.

Condition & Fit-Finish

  • Metalwork & Wood: This one steel components remain free of deep pitting, showing only light handling marks, while the Beech stock retains full handguard integrity and crisp factory lines.
  • Barrel & Action: The 23.25″ bore is bright with strong rifling, and the curved bolt cycles smoothly on its shortened M48 action, delivering flawless feeding and extraction.

Optics & Mounting

  • BadAce “No-Tap” Scout Mount $110: Equipped with the low-profile BadAce NDT (No-Drill-Tap) Picatinny rail for Mauser/M48 platforms—nstallation requires no permanent receiver alterations and holds zero under recoil.
