An intricately crafted Small Sword with a slender triangular hollow ground blade, engraved under the hilt with a distinct cartouche stating:- “Me Fecit Sohlingen” and possibly containing the maker's initials (which may reveal the country of origin).

Engravings on the blade include military and other figures and designs.

The oval dish guard, pommel, knuckle guard, grip and quillon are extensively decorated with faceted steel beads and inlaid with twisted gilt wire, practically all of which remain intact.

The knuckle and dish guards both have elaborate and finely tooled piercings, the steel grip includes a Turk's head ferule top and bottom. Weight is 14oz (397gm) The sword is tight and feels very nicely balanced in the hand. OAL, 39-1/2”, Blade length, 33” x 3/4”wide at hilt
