Hello Gunpost! Here is a once in a lifetime chance to own something TRULY unique and special!

Offering my 1864 Dated 1861 Model Springfield Rifle. Marked to the 49th Massachusetts Volunteer Militia which saw several engagements including the Battle of Port Hope and many others! A TRUE piece of complete American Civil War History. Excellent Bore, Very Good Wood, Museum Grade Firearm. Highly Researchable!

This rifle was part of a special order for the sharpshooters in 1863/64 in the Massachusetts Milita, who contracted Samuel Norris & Co. to make Rifle Muskets in the Springfield 1861 Pattern but equipped with PROGRESSIVE DEPTH 8 (YES, EIGHT!) GROOVE BARRELS! This was due to the commander, William Bartlett, being a crack shot and veteran himself desiring an accurate gun that would not foul quickly in combat! As well, a special extra tall front sight for long range was installed, and field-armourer fitted with a piece of white bone for easy sighting.

The 49th Massachusetts was assigned to the Department of the Gulf and saw heavy combat during the war, including at the Siege of Port Hudson.

This rifle is in excellent condition, I successfully have taken 2 silver and 1 gold medal with it in the Regional, Provincial and National competitions for Team Canada.

After the National Competition that just passed on July 13, this arm was serviced and cleaned by our Canadian Team Master Gunsmith, Walter Krawec of Oakville, Ontario. It is fully fit for service, 100% ready to be in a collection or shot.

For this rarity, I am asking only $1595, picked up or buyer pays shipping.

This arm is being sold under market value because the vehicle my family relies on has broken down and is in serious need of repair.

I am open to reasonable offers, due to this, as I need the money sooner than later.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

Sincerely,

Adrian
